Note: the use of "GLBTQ" Is intended to be all inclusive of our gay & lesbian subculture. Each generation "coins" a new term for themselves. For a number of years the initials "GLBT" has been used to include Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgendered peoples. However, many of the new and upcoming generation of gays & lesbians have preferred the term "QUEER". However, there is also a large segment of our subculture that refer to themselves as "Questioning". As of the date that this page was created, a new "politically-correct" or "acceptable" term had not been "coined" to include the new "Queer" generation and/or those who are "Questioning". So, not to exclude our new brothers & sisters, we opted to add the letter "Q" to the current GLBT term.
So, you think that you may be GAY or your child may be GAY? Here is a story that you should read. It is not a true story, but it does get the point across.

The Trevor Project
The cornerstone of The Trevor Project is
the 18-minute film TREVOR, a teen rejected by friends and peers
because of his sexuality, makes an unsuccessful
attempt to take his life. Heartfelt and moving,
this bittersweet tale won the 1994 Academy Award
for Best Live Action Short Film.
The Trevor Helpline
The TREVOR creators established The
Trevor Helpline to coincide with the airing
of TREVOR on HBO with startup funds provided by The Colin
Higgins Foundation. As a result, The Trevor
Helpline became the first national 24-hour toll-free
suicide prevention hotline aimed at gay and
questioning youth.
The Trevor Project also reaches teens through The
Trevor Educational Package. Designed from the
start to be a teaching tool for school and institutional
use, the film TREVOR was combined with teaching
guides and support materials created by Intermedia,
Inc., an award-winning educational media company
with a long history of bringing difficult subjects
into the classroom. Since its completion in
1995, The Trevor Educational Package has been disseminated
to hundreds of schools, universities, community
groups and professional organizations around
the country.
Advocates for Youth
Established in 1980 as the Center for Population Options, Advocates for Youth champions efforts to help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health. Advocates believes it can best serve the field by boldly advocating for a more positive and realistic approach to adolescent sexual health.
Advocates for Youth envisions a society that views sexuality as normal and healthy and treats young people as a valuable resource.
The core values of Rights, Respect, Responsibility® (3Rs) animate this vision—
RIGHTS: Youth have rights to accurate and complete sexual health information, confidential reproductive and sexual health services, and a secure stake in the future.
RESPECT: Youth deserve respect. Today, young people are largely perceived as part of the problem. Valuing young people means they are part of the solution and are included in developing programs and policies that affect their well-being.
RESPONSIBILITY: Society has the responsibility to provide young people with the tools they need to safeguard their sexual health, and young people have the responsibility to protect themselves from too-early childbearing and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.
